Sync failed: WSUS server not configured. Source: CWSyncMgr::DoSync

Hey guys I am getting desperate.

I keep getting wacky WSUS Errors

I am trying to use SCCM 07 to push updates

I keep getting this error:

Sync failed: WSUS server not configured. Source: CWSyncMgr::DoSync  $$<SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER><Wed May 29 17:23:36.838 2013 Eastern Daylight Time><thread=4488 (0x1188)>

Any ideas?

I am running over port 8530 & 8531

SCCM Ports

And WSUS is working on its own, I just reinstalled it.

So why do I keep getting this error saying WSUS is not configured, clearly it is, please any help is appreciated, all of my Google links are purple and no real answers yet :-(

Hi,

Following are possible solutions for theWSUS server not configured error:

  • Check to make sure the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the active software update point site system server is correct. For more information, seeHow to Verify the Fully Qualified Domain Name Settings Used By the Active Software Update Point.
  • When the Configuration Manager site is in native mode, the WSUS Web site and virtual directories must be configured for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) because the active software update point is automatically configured to use SSL, but WSUS is not automatically configured. When a Configuration Manager site is in mixed mode, you have the option to configure the active software update point to use SSL. In both cases, you must manually configure the WSUS Web site and virtual directories. For more information, see How to Configure the WSUS Web Site to Use SSL.
  • Check to make sure that WSUS running on the active software update point for the child primary site is not configured to be a replica. The following procedure provides the steps to check whether WSUS is configured to be a replica.

To check the update source settings in WSUS

  1. Open the WSUS console on the active software update point for the site.
  2. Click Options in the console tree pane.
  3. Click Update Source and Proxy Server in the display pane.
  4. Verify that This server is a replica of the upstream server is not selected unless you are in the WSUS console on the active software update point for a secondary site. Child primary sites should never be configured as a replica of the upstream server.

  • Check that Update Services is running on the WSUS server.

If the above configurations are correct, you may try to reinstall the SUP as John suggested.

The WCM log say that you have a healthy WSUS box to start with.  The DoSync error can be from a bad SUP install, hotfix missing, update not installed, IIS error. If you have a heathy wsus and WSUS says it is working but can't sync then check IIS and make sure it is healthy as well.

Is your site in native mode? If not, is there a reason you have SSL checkbox checked?

I find the easiest thing to do when I get whacky SUP issues is to simply uninstall the SUP, uninstall WSUS and then put them back.
